Procedures
Dr. McGee performs a range of heart procedures including coronary artery bypass and heart valve surgery. For qualified patients, Dr. McGee offers endoscopic vessel harvesting, a minimally invasive alternative for obtaining the vein or artery used during bypass surgery. He also uses advanced techniques that can accelerate the wound healing process, thus leading to a faster recovery from surgery.

Coronary artery bypass grafting reroutes blood around blocked arteries to improve blood flow and oxygen to the heart. Gateway also offers patients a minimally-invasive alternative for obtaining the vein or artery used during the surgery. Endoscopic vessel harvesting (EVH) uses one to three small incisions, each approximately one inch in length to obtain the vein or artery used during surgery. This procedure minimizes the traditional long, painful incisions that many patients complain about long after the discomfort of the chest incision is gone. Click here to learn more about EVH.

Heart valve problems prevent the heart from obtaining the necessary amount of blood that it needs. Heart valve surgery treats valve problems by either repairing the damaged valve or by replacing it with a new mechanical or tissue valve.
